We have only read three books this week, with the addition of some home reader books from school we’ll ramp up our reading again from now on.
Emily’s hiatus has done some good though, she’s more energised to get back into reading and it’s allowed us to change how we progress through the more challenging books.
Through trial and error, we have found on the harder books, that Emily does better when she gets to read a page 2-4 times before moving on, whilst this may interrupt the flow of a book to some small degree, it has allowed a stuttered page to be read through with some life and context.
We then read back over the entire book and this final read through is much more flowing and alive with Emily’s delivery.
Emily has enjoyed the final read through and really puts some life into those stories she’s found enjoyable.
